WTP: Del. primary latest statement of citizen opposition to national energy taxes
Yet another heavily-favored incumbent legislator loses primary after backing Cap and Tax

WASHINGTON – The nation’s largest grassroots advocate of responsible energy policies warned legislators to not pursue national energy taxes after Rep. Mike Castle (R-DE) became the latest supporter of “cap and trade” legislation to lose an election in 2010. Castle fell to underdog challenger Christine O’Donnell in Tuesday’s Delaware Republican primary for the United States senate. O’Donnell made Castle’s support of the bill a central issue in her campaign.

“Alan Mollohan.  Lisa Murkowski.  Mike Castle.  All ‘untouchable.’  All now unemployed.  In election after election people are making it clear they oppose Obama’s national energy tax scheme,” said Donald Ferguson, Western Tradition Partnership Executive Director.

“Opposition to national energy taxes is a trans-partisan issue.  Rich, poor, black, white, liberal or conservative, everyone opposes Obama’s plan to make your utility bills, as he puts it, ‘skyrocket,’” said Ferguson.

Castle was one of only eight House Republicans to vote for a Cap and Tax plan in June 2009 that would have declared carbon dioxide to be a pollutant and forced businesses to impose higher costs on consumers in order to emit it.  O’Donnell made sure Delawareans knew of Castle’s support for national energy taxes, attacking him over the issue in public statements.  O’Donnell even cited Castle’s support of Cap and Tax at the top of her issues page on her campaign website.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK,) who initially voiced support for Cap and Tax, lost her race for renomination to attorney Joe Miller in a stunning upset.  Mollohan, a West Virginia Congressman, was defeated in a Democrat primary after his opponent made his initial support for Cap and Tax a major issue in that Democrat race.

Dogged by his vote for Cap and Tax, Rep. Mark Kirk (R-IL) scored only 58 percent against a largely unknown challenger in the Illinois Republican primary for senate and finds himself in a virtual tie against a scandal-plagued Democrat for a seat held by a Republican just five years ago.

Get ready for skyrocketing energy bills

Posted on by Quallurce

Dear friend,

I was roaming the halls of Congress, looking to grab meetings with members about the upcoming lame duck session, when I got the call.

Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama wants to reach into your pocket during the lame duck session.

This time, it’s a bailout for “green energy” speculators.

You see, most “green energy” is inefficient and hideously expensive.

Some folks freely choose to pay more for wind and solar energy.  More power to them, no pun intended.

But the White House and congressional leaders want to force everyone to buy the trendy, expensive energy.

The fact is wind and solar can’t compete with efficient, affordable and increasingly clean sources of power like coal, hydroelectric and others.

“Green energy” speculators are losing their shirts because they can’t compete in a fair market.

So they want Reid, Pelosi and Obama to force you to bail them out.

They call it a “renewable energy standard” or “RES.”

In reality, it’s a market-rigging scheme forcing consumers to buy a product they don’t want from the political cronies of radical green politicians.

By requiring utility customers to purchase a set percentage of their power from inefficient, expensive “green” sources, your energy bills skyrocket.

And “green energy” speculators laugh all the way to the bank.

But the joke is on the consumer.  And the poor and fixed-income elderly get hit the hardest.

Independent researchers like the National Association for Manufacturers, the American Council for Capital Formation and the Heritage Foundation all agree we’ll lose over one million jobs and see at least a 30 percent increase in energy prices.

By rigging the market, potentially billions of dollars will be forcibly confiscated from pockets like yours and redistributed to “green energy” speculators.

Not only do the speculators get rich, you can guess which politicians they like to shower with their political contributions.

Basically, this market-rigging scheme ends up picking your pockets to fund radical green activism.

This isn’t a “renewable energy standard.”  It’s a market-rigging scheme intended to redistribute your income right into the pockets of radical green activists and groups.

In other words, radical greens will be buying votes in Congress using your confiscated income.

We must stop this, and other, lame duck “green schemes.”

Click here or go to https://secure.westerntradition.org to rush me your best gift of $35, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1000 or whatever you feel you can afford.

Any gift of any size will help organize opposition to this market-rigging, vote-fixing scheme.

So-called “renewable energy standards” send utility bills skyrocketing by forcing consumers to buy trendy, inefficient, expensive “green energy.”

It doesn’t make the air any cleaner (in fact, scientific research shows RESes make the air dirtier by disrupting the normal operation of coal plants.)

The only ones cleaning up under a national RES are the radical greens.  No wonder Reid, Pelosi and Obama are in a mad rush to impose it on you, using your jacked-up utility bills to fund radical green activism.

So please click here or go to https://secure.westerntradition.org right now to rush your best gift of $35, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1000.

The timing of this is intentional.  They want fast action because they’ve seen what RESes do in other states.  Bills go up, as do the bank accounts of politically-connected “green” speculators.”

So please act now.  Help WTP tell Reid, Pelosi and Obama to stop rigging the market in favor of their cronies, and to keep their mitts off your utility bills.

Sincerely,

Donald E. Ferguson
Executive Director
Western Tradition Partnership

P.S.  I was in a congressional office when I got the call.  The White House and congressional leaders will make a lame duck session rush for a bill that rigs the national energy market in favor of their politically-connected cronies.

They call it a “renewable energy standard.”  In reality, it forces you – against your will – to buy a set percentage of your electricity from trendy, inefficient, expensive “green” sources.

Please click here or go to https://secure.westerntradition.org to rush me your best gift of $35, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1000 or whatever you feel you can afford.

Any gift of any size will help organize opposition to this market-rigging, vote-fixing scheme.

Colorado’s market-fixing scheme sticks consumers with big bills

Posted on September 10, 2010 by Quallurce

From today’s Denver Post.  Colorado’s governor and legislature are forcing families to buy their electricity from more expensive sources, sending utility bills skyrocketing.  The result?  Bigger bills, more jobs lost, more families pushed to the financial breaking point and the poor and fixed-income elderly suffering through blazing summers and freezing winters.

Gov. Bill Ritter and green energy advocates are selling Colorado a false bill of goods when it comes to the “New Energy Economy.” They claim the green energy agenda won’t burden consumers, but their interpretation relies on misleading accounting that hides billions of dollars in green energy costs.

The crown jewel of Ritter’s much-ballyhooed plan is the renewable electricity standard (RES), which requires investor-owned utilities to generate at least 30 percent of their electricity sales from renewable energy sources by 2020.

Critics warned that a 30 percent RES will saddle energy consumers with higher costs, and the facts seem to be on their side. According to the federal Energy Information Administration’s projection of future electricity costs, in 2016 wind power will be nearly 50 percent more expensive than coal and nearly 80 percent more expensive than natural gas. Thermal solar generation is projected to be 150 percent more expensive than coal, and 200 percent more expensive than gas…

TAKE THE WTP CHALLENGE: Who said it? Discovery Channel green terrorist James J. Lee or “mainstream” green leaders?

Posted on September 1, 2010 by Quallurce

One of these quotes is from Discovery Channel terrorist James J. Lee.  The others are from the leaders and founders of the so-called “mainstream” green movement.  Can you tell the difference?

A) “Free Enterprise really means rich people get richer. They have the freedom to exploit and psychologically rape their fellow human beings in the process . . . Capitalism is destroying the earth.”
B) “To feed a starving child is to exacerbate the world population problem.”
C) “The only hope for the world is to make sure there is not another United States: We can’t let other countries have the same number of cars, the amount of industrialization, we have in the U.S. We have to stop these Third World countries right where they are.”
D) “To capture the public imagination, we have to offer up some scary scenarios, make simplified dramatic statements and little mention of any doubts one might have. Each of us has to decide the right balance between being effective and being honest.”
E) “Saving the Planet means saving what’s left of the non-human Wildlife by decreasing the Human population.”
F) “Human happiness, and certainly human fecundity, is not as important as a wild and healthy planets…Some of us can only hope for the right virus to come along.”
G) “If I were reincarnated, I would wish to be returned to Earth as a killer virus to lower human population levels.”
H) “We’ve already had too much economic growth in the United States. Economic growth in rich countries like ours is the disease, not the cure.”
I) “We must identify our enemies and drive them into oblivion.”
J) “A global climate treaty must be implemented even if there is no scientific evidence to back the greenhouse effect.”
K) “I got the impression that instead of going out to shoot birds, I should go out and shoot the kids who shoot birds.”
L) “Phasing out the human race will solve every problem on earth, social and environmental.”

The correct answer is E.  The others are just some of the radical rhetoric from “mainstream” green leaders.

And no matter who spouts or backs it, violence is unacceptable and condemned by WTP.  While any death is unfortunate, the staff and volunteers here at WTP are pleased the terrorist situation has been prayerfully resolved with no harm to innocent people.  Americans must be vigilant and informed to prevent future acts of violence such as this.

Radical green takes hostages, fires shots in Discovery Channel HQ

Posted on by Quallurce

The Washington Post reports a radical environmentalist is behind the currently ongoing hostage situation, with shots fired, at the Discovery Channel’s Washington-area headquarters.

James J. Lee — the man federal and local law enforcement sources say is holding hostages at the Discovery Channel building — was legally bound not to step near the property…

…Wednesday, as police tried to get the situation under control, details of Lee were emerging. His MySpace page shows a 43 year old who wanted to meet “environmentalists, scientists, readers of Daniel Quinn, and people who want to work toward a real change.”…

…Federal officials also confirmed that he was the creator of this Web site, which detail his complaints against Discovery. Among them was this one that seems to be aimed at the overpopulation of the planet: “All programs on Discovery Health-TLC must stop encouraging the birth of any more parasitic human infants and the false heroics behind those actions. In those programs’ places, programs encouraging human sterilization and infertility must be pushed. All former pro-birth programs must now push in the direction of stopping human birth, not encouraging it.”

…His crusade, he told the paper, began after losing his job in San Diego, reading ”Ishmael,” a novel by Daniel Quinn and watching Vice President Al Gore’s documentary ”An Inconvenient Truth.”

WTP urges everyone to pray for the safety of all involved and a peaceful resolution to this violent act.
