Wash. Times: Obama cronies get fat contracts forcing ‘green’ fuel on Navy

Solyndra, Part II?  Or just more of the same junk science and crony corporatism from Barack Obama — and at the expense of our national security?

The editorial board of  The Washington Times takes aim at Obama’s drive to force the military to hand his cronies piles of taxpayer cash for failing “green” energy:

The $1 trillion budget bill before Congress includes a provision that would resurrect the Keystone XL pipeline, but don’t expect its passage to open a flood of black gold and wash away Uncle Sam’s infatuation with all things green. Even as the scientific validation of global-warming theory crumbles, adherents in Washington have dragooned the U.S. military into leading the charge toward renewable energy…

…The Navy made headlines last week with the revelation that it has been ordered to purchase 450,000 gallons of biofuel to power its jet fighters. Conventional jet fuel costs about $4 a gallon, but the biofuel made from fermented algae will set back the service about $16 a gallon. The pricey green gas, says the Navy, will be used next summer to power planes participating in exercises near Hawaii under the politically correct title of “the Great Green Fleet Carrier Strike Force.” The purchase is part of a larger deal in which the Navy is partnering with the Agriculture and Energy departments to buy $510 million worth of biofuels over three years.

And who is getting the multi-million dollar contracts to supply the Navy with less efficient, more expensive fuel?

One supplier is California-based Solazyme, which received $22 million in federal stimulus funds to construct a biofuel plant in Louisiana. A company adviser, according to Hot Air, is T.J. Glauthier, who was a member of President Obama’s transition team. So in essence, overspending feds borrowed stimulus money, handed it over to an Obama buddy who helps build a factory for algae fuel that the feds buy back at quadruple the going rate.

Who would have thought we’d reach the day where environmentalist lust for taxpayer cash would not only cross ethical lines, but endanger national security?

33 years of climate data show temps well below alarmist prediction

Posted on by Donald Ferguson

It’s another nail in the long-buried coffin of the “man-made global warming” conspiracy theory.

“Every month climatologists John Christy and Roy Spencer report the latest data from satellite measurements of global average temperatures. This month marks the 33rd anniversary of their data set. On the occasion, the researchers release a longer analysis of global temperature trends…” Reason magazine reports.

The verdict?  “Man-made global warming” theorists are the ones belching hot air.

Globally averaged, Earth’s atmosphere has warmed about 0.45 Celsius (about 0.82° F) during the almost one-third of a century that sensors aboard NOAA and NASA satellites have measured the temperature of oxygen molecules in the air.

This is at the lower end of computer model projections of how much the atmosphere should have warmed due to the effects of extra greenhouse gases since the first Microwave Sounding Unit (MSU) went into service in Earth orbit in late November 1978, according to satellite data processed and archived at UAHuntsville’s ESSC.

“While 0.45 degrees C of warming is noticeable in climate terms, it isn’t obvious that it represents an impending disaster,” said Christy.

And where did that warming come from?  Human activity?

No.

“Mother Nature” herself.

“Clear net warming did not occur until the El Niño Pacific Ocean “warming event of the century” in late 1997.  Since that upward jump, there has been little or no additional warming,” Reason reports.

“Only portions of the Antarctic, two areas off the southwestern coast of South America, and a small region south of Hawaii have cooled. On average, the South Pole region has cooled by about 0.05 C per decade, or 0.16 C (0.30° F) in 33 years. The globe’s fastest cooling region is in the central Antarctic south of MacKenzie Bay and the Amery Ice Shelf. Temperatures in that region have cooled by an annual average of about 2.36 C (4.25° F).”

Obama’s Chevy Volt the most taxpayer-supported car ever at $250K each

Posted on December 21, 2011 by Donald Ferguson

Reason magazine has the story.  Go here to read all the details.

If you’ve been revolted by the fact that every $40,000 electric Chevy Volt sold by Government Motors enjoys a $7,500 rebate at the expense of taxpayers, then better have some Dramamine before you read any further. James Hohman of the Mackinac Center for Public Policy has calculated that the total subsidies—direct and indirect, federal and state—poured into this white elephant could add up to $3 billion or $250,000 for every Volt sold to date…

Christmas hordes

Posted on December 19, 2011 by Donald Ferguson

Dear friend,

The liberal hordes are trying to smash their way in.

I’m doing what I can to hold them off.

As you know, Gang Green isn’t happy with American Tradition Partnership.

Together you and I have exposed Gang Green fraud, defeated international environmentalist initiatives like Cap and Tax and sent scores of Gang Green-controlled congressmen and senators to political defeat.

You and I have Gang Green seeing red.

And now they want to get even.

While other folks are hanging stockings, lighting candles or wrapping Christmas presents, I am fighting off Gang Green assaults on all fronts.

Instead of spending time with my family this year, I have to spend this Christmas right here at my desk going through legal briefs and stacks of research.

You see, I have been forced to preemptively sue a state Attory General who openly admits he has no evidence to back up any of his claims and wants to misinterpret state law to make it illegal for me to speak to you.

I am confident we will win our case, but the very fact we have to file multiple lawsuits to block bogus investigations is consuming time and resources.

You and I are also fighting in Congress this week to stop a bill that would give Barack Obama the power to shut down AmericanTradition.org and block us from communicating with each other.

And now Obama’s rogue Justice Department is working with international police to hunt down activists exposing the fraud behind “global warming” alarmism.

On that front, Chris Horner, best-selling author and Senior Director of Litigation for American Tradition Institute (the affiliated think tank of American Tradition Partnership) tells the story in Thursday’s Washington Examiner.

He says, in part:

“..the United States Department of Justice (DOJ), Criminal Division, is working with United Kingdom police to pursue the leaker of the 2009 and 2011 “Climategate” emails.

I have learned that last week DOJ sent a search-and-seizure letter to the host of three climate-change “skeptic” blogs. Last night, UK police raided a blogger’s home and removed computers and equipment.

“The leaked records derailed “cap-and-trade” legislation in the U.S. and, internationally, as well as talks for a successor to the Kyoto Protocol. The emails and computer code were produced with taxpayer funds and held on taxpayer-owned computers both in the US and the UK, and all were subject to the UK Freedom of Information Act, the U.S. Freedom of Information Act and state FOIA laws.”

In our preemptive lawsuits, I have to sort through three different complex cases, and pay three different attorneys just to preserve our First Amendment rights.

All because we are effective.

Gang Green, unable to defeat us fairly, is resorting to admittedly made-up claims, phony “investigations” and fraudulent statements to try and stop us.

So while I’ll be spending my Christmas defending your right to petition your elected officials, I need you to stand with me.

Can you please go here and chip in $10 or more to support the important work of American Tradition Partnership?

I won’t let Obama’s Justice Department goons silence me.

I won’t let a rogue state Attorney General shut me up using claims he admits he made up.

I won’t let Congressional insiders and Barack Obama use an unconstitutional federal law to shut down AmericanTradition.org.

I’m forced to spend Christmas Day here at my desk, holding off the Gang Green hordes and their shameless schemes to use slime and dirt to try and stop us.

But I will be overwhelmed and defeated without the support of friends like you.

Don’t leave me to fight alone on Christmas.

Please, take just a moment to go here and chip in $10, or whatever you feel you can give.

My Christmas Day will be spent battling the Gang Green hordes are trying to overwhelm you and me.

I won’t let their dirty tricks and slimy tactics defeat us.

Please stand with me this Christmas.

Sincerely,

Donald Ferguson
Executive Director

P.S. While other folks are hanging stockings, lighting candles or wrapping Christmas presents, I have to spend this Christmas right here at my desk going through legal briefs and stacks of research.

You see, unable to stop our success in defeating schemes like Cap and Tax, Gang Green has resorted to admittedly-made up claims, unconstitutional bills that would let Obama shut down AmericanTradition.org and even a scheme by Obama’s Justice Department goons to torment activists releasing public information exposing “global warming fraud.”  If they can’t beat us, they will try and silence us.

Don’t leave me to fight alone on Christmas.  Please, take just a moment to go here and chip in $10, or whatever you feel you can give.

Congress delays enforcement of light bulb ban

Posted on December 16, 2011 by Donald Ferguson

House and Senate negotiators last night put the finishing touches on a new spending measure that, among other things, temporarily delays the “incandescent light bulb ban.”

The budget resolution, which averts a partial government shutdown, includes language blocking funding for implementation or enforcement of Energy Department energy efficiency standards for light bulbs set to go into effect Jan. 1, 2012.  The restrictions, part of a 2007 law, essentially make the 100-watt incandescent bulb illegal.

While enforcement of the law has been suspended for the year, all American factories that made the bulbs shut down months ago and moved to Mexico, taking thousands of American jobs with them.  Unless the law is repealed the ban is still scheduled to be enforced and no jobs will return to the United States.

Go here to chip in $10 and support American Tradition Partnership’s grassroots effort, which has delayed the ban, to push for a full repeal of the light bulb ban.

Obama’s Keystone delay triggering Christmas layoffs

Posted on December 13, 2011 by Donald Ferguson

“Layoffs and a brief company shutdown is what employees face at Welspun Tubular Company, which makes steel pipes for the oil industry,” Little Rock, Ark.’s Fox 16 reports.

“Company leaders say miles of pipe are on the property and that has caused five dozen employees to lose their jobs. The pipes would be part of the Keystone oil pipeline, which is a project running oil from Canada to Texas.  But plans are delayed on the federal level. Now leaders say the local job market is affected.”

“We had to make a staffing reduction with some of the temporary employees. Due to the KXL pipeline not being shipped out. We have 500 miles of pipe just sitting in the yard, expected to be shipped out, that some of the employees were working on,” company president Dave Delie tells Fox 16.

Even the Grinch and Ebenezer Scrooge had Christmastime changes of heart.

But will “Green Grinch” Obama rethink his decision to appease Gang Green by throwing thousands of working families onto the unemployment lines?
