Senate Democrats continue assault against Keystone jobs

Posted on April 25, 2012 by Donald Ferguson

Senate Democrats have vowed to obstruct efforts to put approval of the Keystone jobs pipeline in legislation to be voted upon this week.

“Keystone is a program that we’re not going, that I am not going to help in any way I can,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Nevada Democrat, told reporters.

“The president feels that way,” Reid emphasized.

Upping the ante in Democrats’ efforts to kill the pipeline, seven of the eight slots given to Democrats on a conference committee to has out legislation went to Democrats who voted to kill the jobs pipeline.

The other, Montana Democrat Max Baucus, promised in writing he would not support Keystone as a member of the committee.

Democrats’ efforts to kill the pipeline come as rising unemployment and gas prices are putting millions of American families beyond their financial breaking point.

ACTION ALERT: House to consider energy bills to lower gas prices

Posted on April 24, 2012 by Donald Ferguson

“The House Energy and Commerce Committee will begin considering two energy bills Tuesday aimed at expanding domestic oil-and-gas leasing and ensuring that federal environmental regulations don’t raise prices at the pump,” The Hill reports this morning.

“The Gasoline Regulations Act would prevent the Environmental Protection Agency from finalizing key air pollution regulations until a Cabinet-level commission analyzes the regulations’ potential impacts on gasoline prices.

“And the Strategic Energy Production Act would expand oil-and-gas leasing on federal lands if the president releases oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), a 696-million-barrel emergency oil stockpile.

“The committee will hear opening statements from lawmakers Tuesday and is slated to vote on the bills Wednesday.”

It is vital these bills make it out of committee, and that won’t happen without action from American Tradition Partnership supporters like you.

Call your representative at 202-224-3121. If you don’t know who your member of Congress is, just give the operator your ZIP code.

Ask your representative to support the Gasoline Regulations Act and the Strategic Energy Production Act if they are on the House Energy Committee, or on the House floor if they are not.

This legislation won’t succeed without phone calls from American Tradition Partnership supporters like you, so let’s show Congress Americans want action on energy prices and rational energy policy.

Another ATP victory: House cuts off LWCF funding

Posted on April 20, 2012 by Donald Ferguson

The House passed highway funding legislation Wednesday that did not include funding for “Land and Water Conservation Fund” property grab government program.

Thank you to all the ATP supporters who called their representative.

The program funds federal, state and local efforts to place more private property under government ownership.  Gang Green has been using it for nearly 50 years to place millions of American acres off-limits to job development, energy exploration and human activity.

The fight now moves to the Senate.

North Korean rocket still worked better than Obama’s Chevy Volt

The North Korean rocket traveled 100 miles before failing.

That’s three times longer than Obama’s Chevy Volt, which Popular Mechanics reports travels just 33 miles per charge.

Average national gas prices to ‘necessarily skyrocket’ to $4.00 this week

Posted on April 9, 2012 by Donald Ferguson

“The average price of gasoline could surpass $4 per gallon nationwide as early as this week. It’s already $3.93 per gallon, a record for this time of year,” The Huffington Post reports Saturday.

Among the reasons for the exploding prices under Obama?

“To comply with the Clean Air Act and limit smog, refiners have to make a special blend of gasoline that doesn’t easily evaporate in the warm summer air. The fuel is 5 to 15 cents a gallon more expensive to make because of raw material costs.”

Obama’s attacks on oil production are also sending gas prices skyward, hurting families.

“The nationwide fuel supply can’t be transformed overnight. Between April 1, when refiners must start making the summer blend, and June 1, when retailers have to be selling it, supplies become uncertain, and prices at the pump rise.”

Another Obama-backed company, with $2.1B in taxpayer loans, goes bankrupt

Posted on April 3, 2012 by Donald Ferguson

Last April Barack Obama gave away a $2.1 billion taxpayer-backed loan to Solar Trust of America, hailing the company as an example of his energy policy.

Yesterday they declared bankruptcy as yet another Obama-backed “green” company failed, taking taxpayer money down with it.

Solar Trust, which held the rights to the 1,000-megawatt Blythe Solar Power Project in the Southern California desert, began bankruptcy proceedings Monday.

Solar Trust filed for bankruptcy after Solar Millennium AG, another solar company which holds a 70 percent stake in Solar Trust, filed for bankruptcy.

Solar Trust tried to sell those shares to a company named “solarhybrid AG,” but that company also declared bankruptcy.

It’s the latest colossal failure for Obama’s agenda of propping up failing “green” companies with massive giveaways of taxpayer funds.

“Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and California Gov. Jerry Brown were on hand last June when Solar Trust broke ground on a 1,000-megawatt project in California. The project was touted as the world’s largest solar power plant and a keystone of the Obama administration’s efforts to promote solar energy,” the Associated Press reports.
