Citizens group blasts Obama Keystone decision
Decision to kill Keystone “victory for terrorist regimes, Communist aggressors and Obama’s wealthy left-wing activist base” but “not a permanent one”
WASHINGTON – American Tradition Partnership Executive Director Donald Ferguson released the following statement Wednesday afternoon:
“Barack Obama decided long ago to side with his radical liberal base and the Gang Green billionaires who fund his campaign by killing the Keystone jobs pipeline.
He thought he could avoid responsibility by hiding his views until after the election. Voters have a right to know where he stands on jobs and energy. Today he showed voters where he stood – in the pocket of the multi-billion dollar Gang Green environmentalist lobby.
This decision was anything but rushed or arbitrary. Our Canadian allies and hundreds of thousands of American workers have waited patiently for three years for a decision that could have been made long ago. Obama simply sat on it because he didn’t want to face an pre-election choice between creating jobs to please union members, or slaughtering hundreds of thousands of jobs to please his Gang Green campaign bankrollers. In the end, he chose campaign cash over the jobs of Americans.
There was no reason for Obama to kill the jobs pipeline, other than blind adherence to a radical liberal ideology that has already killed millions of jobs and thwarted economic renewal for nearly four years now.
Obama’s decision to kill the jobs pipeline is a punch in the teeth to the unemployed, working families and Americans who need clean, reliable and affordable energy.
At the expense of working Americans Obama just handed a victory to anti-American regimes in Iran, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela. His decision to kill the Keystone jobs pipeline makes us more dependent on foreign oil.
At the expense of working Americans Obama just handed a victory to Communist China. With the United States pipeline killed by his hand, the oil will be sold to China. Their Communist regime will make billions that could have been paid to American workers. Instead, Barack Obama has told Communist China to reap massive profits refining our own North American oil and selling it back to us.
But this victory for terrorist regimes, Communist aggressors and Obama’s wealthy left-wing activist base is not a permanent one. The fight to build the Keystone jobs pipeline has just begun.
American Tradition Partnership’s large and growing grassroots army will spent 2012 engaging millions of voters, informing them of Obama’s destructive Gang Green-led policies. Together ATP and millions of voters will change American jobs and energy policy in Congress and in the White House. Americans deserve the good jobs and clean, affordable energy the Keystone jobs pipeline will deliver.
The Keystone pipeline will be approved by the next administration, whether it be a humbled Barack Obama or a new president.
Tomorrow morning I will leave D.C. for Southeast Texas, where much of the Keystone pipeline’s safe, clean North American energy will be delivered. There I will begin ATP’s national effort to engage voters and change policy.
Obama slapped voters in the face today by carrying out a job-slaughtering decision he made long ago. However, he will learn that voters will strike back even more forcefully.”

“Environmental and other “radical groups” are trying to block trade and undermine Canada’s economy, Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver said Monday,” reports CBC News in a development that would kill hopes for economic renewal here in the United States.
“Unfortunately, there are environmental and other radical groups that would seek to block this opportunity to diversify our trade,” Oliver said in an open letter.
“Their goal is to stop any major project no matter what the cost to Canadian families in lost jobs and economic growth. No forestry. No mining. No oil. No gas. No more hydro-electric dams.”
Oliver says the groups “threaten to hijack our regulatory system to achieve their radical ideological agenda,” stack the hearings with people to delay or kill “good projects,” attract “jet-setting” celebrities and use funding from “foreign special interest groups.”
“A resurgent green movement is launching a multi-pronged counter-attack against the shale oil and gas boom in the United States that could slow, though ultimately not stop, development,” Reuters reports.
“Building upon their unexpected success in the battle against the Keystone XL pipeline, a renewed onslaught from environmentalists is putting the shale industry on the defensive while adding to costs, limiting expansion and potentially scuttling major projects.”
Make no mistake.
Gang Green has declared war on YOUR job.
With no energy, the economy dies.
Don’t let them win.
Reeling from an Obama administration decision to stall by more than a year a final decision on its Keystone XL pipeline until 2013, TransCanada is taking desperate measures to save the project from what some observers believe is a fatal blow,” Petroleum News reports.
“By rerouting a 30-mile section of the proposed 1,700-mile pipeline outside the eastern edge of Nebraska’s ecologically sensitive Sand Hills region, the Canadian-based pipeline hopes it can win over lawmakers in the state and Washington, D.C….It now hopes for a favorable decision within six to nine months from U.S. decision makers, including a presidential permit from the State Department which is needed for XL pipeline to cross from Canada into the United States.”
The permit will not be reviewed until early 2013, meaning even if it were approved the pipeline now would not be operational until 2014. The delay will cost TransCanada over C$1 million a day.
But experts, including radical green activists, tell Petroleum News Obama will still seek to kill the pipeline, and the more than 200,000 jobs and lower gas prices it would bring.
“But David Wilkins, a U.S. ambassador to Canada under President George W. Bush and South Carolina Republican whose Washington, D.C.-based law firm has been retained by the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, said it was “premature” for Keystone proponents to celebrate victory.
“‘Any way you shake it, it looks like the decision has been put off past the (2012 U.S. election), which I believe was the intention to start with,’ said Wilkins, who described the postponement of a final ruling on XL as a ‘catastrophic’ cop-out by Obama to improve the president’s chances of re-election.
“’The agreement in Nebraska won’t satisfy others who don’t want the pipeline at all and they’re going to continue to put pressure on the administration,” Wilkins warned.
“That view was echoed by Susan Casey-Lefkowitz, director of the international program at the National Resources Defense Council, who said TransCanada should ‘listen to the American people tell them ‘no’ to the pipeline as a whole and we need Canada to stop pushing dirty tar sands oil on America.’”
As the White House fights to stop investigations into allegations Obama green-lit the doomed half-billion dollar taxpayer-backed Solyndra loan in order to enrich donor George Kaiser, another “green” policy finds itself swirling in scandal and allegations of policymaking-for-payoffs.
“Killing the Keystone XL pipeline may help one of the world’s richest men get richer. North Dakota’s booming oil fields will now grow more dependent on a railroad the president’s economic guru just bought,” Investor’s Business Daily writes.
“…Interestingly, another billionaire, Obama economic inspiration Warren Buffett, stands to benefit from the Keystone XL pipeline delay.
“As oil production ramps up in the Bakken fields of North Dakota, plans to use the pipeline to transport it have been dashed.
“As a result, North Dakota’s booming oil producers will have to rely even more on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railroad, which Buffett just bought, to ship it to refineries.
“Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway has agreed to buy Burlington Northern Santa Fe in a deal valuing the railroad at $34 billion. Berkshire Hathaway already owns about 22% of Burlington Northern, and will pay $100 a share in cash and stock for the rest of the company,” IBD writes.
“This is just more proof so-called ‘green’ policies are nothing more than brazen attempts to funnel taxpayer money into politically-connected pockets,” said American Tradition Partnership Executive Director Donald Ferguson. “The only environment Obama’s ‘green’ policies protect is the health of his campaign account.”
Dear ATP supporter,
Barack Obama obliterated 20,000 American jobs.
Just to try and save his own.
Obama, realizing the political price he would pay for killing the Keystone jobs pipeline, has “delayed” a decision on the project until after next year’s presidential election.
Americans want the pipeline.
The 25,000 petitions we turned in, including that of brave citizens like you, made that clear.
But with gas prices rising and unemployment hovering around ten percent, Obama and Gang Green hope delaying a decision means you and I will forget about the issue.
In the meantime, 20,000 American jobs were lost, gas prices continue to rise and Gang Green was just given more time to wage their multi-million dollar media war to kill the pipeline.
Just to take the political heat off a president who ran and hid when asked to stand up for jobs.
In their White House strategy sessions, Obama and Gang Green decided that causing even more workers to lose their jobs over a delay is worth this shameless attempt to wait until after he faces voters to attack jobs.
When working Americans needed him to lower gas prices and approve tens of thousands of new jobs, he ran and hid.
What a gutless coward.
With your help, American Tradition Partnership won’t let Obama succeed.
I want to take this Keystone pipeline issue and hold Obama accountable for it.
Please go here to chip in $25 or more to help me make sure Obama can’t hide from the Keystone pipeline.
You and I pushed this issue to the front burner when you signed your petition.
Your support is the only thing that will eventually get the pipeline approved.
Now with your help we can bombard him and voters with phone calls, e-mails, letters, faxes…and newspaper, TV and radio ads letting everyone know Barack Obama just obliterated 20,000 jobs and sent gas prices skyrocketing.
If Barack Obama thinks delaying a decision until after the election means he can avoid the issue this election…
P.S. Unable to explain to voters his opposition to the Keystone jobs pipeline, and terrified of paying a political price for it, Obama announced yesterday he was “delaying” a decision on approving the permit until after the 2012 elections. That announcement killed 20,000 immediate jobs — just to save his own.
If he thinks it will work, he’s wrong. But I need your help. Please go here to chip in $25 or more to help me make sure Obama can’t hide from the Keystone pipeline.
With your help we can bombard him and voters with phone calls, e-mails, letters, faxes…and newspaper, TV and radio ads letting everyone know Barack Obama just obliterated 20,000 jobs and sent gas prices skyrocketing.
